I studied literature at university. My focus was Medieval and Renassaince literature. The truth is I'm obsessed with Dante. Besides my studies, I'm a massive fan of YA Fantasy, Contemporary, and Romance novels. Here you'll find my book reviews and recommendations.

Once upon a time, way back when, I was one of those people who believed skincare was a myth. In fact, I didn't really know something as vital as skincare existed. I was the kind of person who washed my face with soap and lotioned my skin when I was done. I didn't understand why I had bad skin. During puberty, my skin was awful. I have faint scars left from those years. My skin was traumatized.

Back when I had just reached adulthood, my friends had mentioned something about skincare. They spoke of all of the products they used and what it was for. They love makeup and told me how important it is to take care of our skin, especially if we wear makeup. I swear this was all new to me.

The first time I ever attempted to understand my skin and skincare, in general, was when I made my first purchase at Sephora. Fresh was the first brand I ever used. I wasn't sure what would work for my skin and the employee didn't seem to have much information that would help. She told me that buying all the products from the same line would be great for my skin because they're all made to be used together. It made sense. I believed her. I stocked up on the Fresh Rose collection. While it was half true, everything didn't work for my skin. So what worked for me?

  1. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - My skin gets irritated easily. This face cleanser was so gentle. It made my skin feel lovely. The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser always feels like it's doing a good deep cleaning. Fresh definitely lives up to its name when leaving my face feeling fresh.
  2. Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream - I was skeptical about the eye gel cream. Under my eyes tend to dry out during colder times of the year. Sometimes the skin is irritated from being dry. The Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream helped with hydrating the skin under my eye. It also made my skin feel refreshed. This product itself made me feel and look brand new. I loved using this product.
  3. Fresh Rose Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator - Exfoliating is important. I learned all about it. I didn't know that skin dies and if we don't exfoliate, the skin will stay where it is. Exfoliating is something I enjoy doing. It is a weekly rebirth for my skin. With the Rose Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator, I had had brand new lips twice a week. I've used some products after this that I would move on to love or dislike, but this is one of those products that really work. My lips have been ready and kissable ever since.
  4. Fresh Sugar Face Polish - The Fresh Sugar Face Polish is magical. As I said before, I have sensitive skin. This exfoliator is gentle and it works. My skin shouts 'new year, new me' every time I exfoliator. I can feel the sugar working its magic. From my first use to now, I've seen my skin transform for the better.
All of the products above smell absolutely delicious. They were the first products I've ever used and I recommend these to any beginner or Rose lovers with sensitive skin. These products have been magical since I've started using them.

I've found many favorites that worked for my skin and I was instantly in love. My journey didn't end there. I did some research. I know I have dry skin and during the winter my skin is at its worse. I had to broaden my horizons. One brand isn't my cure-all for skincare. I was curious to see what else is out there. Eventually, I found a brand called LANIEGE. LANIEGE's Mini Pore Waterclay Mask became an instant favorite. First, it's so much fun to put on. Second, I could see and feel the difference with this product.

Another brand that I fell in love with is L'Occitane. I used to live and swear by the Shea Cleansing Oil until it got discontinued. I was heartbroken. I decided to try their newer version of the cleansing oil. L'occitane's Cleansing Oil-to-Milk is a face cleanser and makeup remover. I don't really wear makeup, and it's really because I never learned how to use it, but I love that my skin no longer feels dry when I use this face wash. The Oil-to-Milk cleanser is something I recommend. I've never tried it as a makeup removing face wash, but as a regular face wash, my skin is happy. This oil doesn't live up to the Shea Cleansing Oil, but it does the job. If my skin is happy, I'm happy.

A newer brand that I found recently is Tarte. One thing that makes me absolutely happy is that this brand is clean. This made my heart flutter. The Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost is a moisturizer that I found in more recent times and I am absolutely in love.  This moisturizer leaves my skin with a glow. These days I start my skincare routine with the L'Occitane Cleansing Oil-to-Milk cleanser and end my routine with the Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost moisturizer. This works so well, especially on the days where my skin is drier than normal.

Over the last seven years, I've fallen in love with many brands. My skincare journey isn't over. I have so much more to learn. There are products that I've yet to hear about. There are products that I'm lusting after and really want to try. For now, I take my skincare journey one step at a time and I'm taking you with me. The more I learn and the more I fall in love, I will share it here on my tiny journal sized space on the internet.

What are your favorite beauty brands? What's your skin type? What products would you recommend?
