I studied literature at university. My focus was Medieval and Renassaince literature. The truth is I'm obsessed with Dante. Besides my studies, I'm a massive fan of YA Fantasy, Contemporary, and Romance novels. Here you'll find my book reviews and recommendations.

During the past few weeks, I have been working on getting my wardrobe together. I have sorted through almost everything that I own. There are three piles: donations, giveaways, and recycling which I will be donating at H&M ASAP. Sustainability and quality over quantity have been on my mind for the past few years. As I am clearing out my wardrobe, I remind myself of this constantly.

We all shop. I know I love shopping. That is why I try to keep in mind that I want to minimize the amount I've contributed to things wasted in the fashion industry. I like to follow two rules when shopping:

  1. If you still want it in a few months, then buy it. Therefore, I know it's something I truly want and it's not just something on-trend or something I'll wear for the moment. I saved for this coat because I believed I truly wanted it. I could have bought it then and there, but knowing that it's something I'm still after when Summer is approaching, told me to purchase this item. I do have my moments where I splurge, but I've stuck with this rule for the most part.
  2. Spend the money for the item that is of great quality.  Quality items mean that they last longer which means we're spending less in the long run. Everyone's budget is different. I don't always spend a lot on things that I buy, but I do prioritize. This cape was an in-the-moment splurge. Outerwear is is something I prioritize in my wardrobe. I knew this cape would be a key, staple piece in my wardrobe for a long time. I had to have it. Remember that quality doesn't always mean expensive. There are inexpensive pieces that are of great quality. We just have to spend the time to look for them.

With so many midseason sales, I find myself investing in quality pieces that both fit my style and will be around for a long time. As my personal style evolves, I find that my wardrobe has more statements and key pieces than ever. White plays a massive roll in my wardrobe. So, getting quality items to love and care for is very important to me. Browns, tans, and beiges come next. These colors are easy to match with the whites. The two colors that pop out in my wardrobe are pink and burgundy. There may not be a lot of it, but it's there. With every piece, no matter what color it is, I am reminded why I fell in love with it in the first place. I am also reminded that I will continue to love that piece for the years to come.

I am not quite done with investing in my wardrobe, but I am remembering my rules. There are still things I wish to have. As the packages continue to come in, my excitement for the next autumn and winter holiday continues to grow.

What are some of your favorite pieces in your wardrobe?

Below are my favorite pieces that I've invested in for next autumn and winter:
